Land Rover has shared the first teaser pics and a video showing the new Range Rover along with its launch date: Tuesday, October 26, 2021. It appears that the SUV comes based on a new tach platform and has a new cabin, while preserving its trademark appearance.
The image showing the profile of the car confirms that the main proportions and outlines stay the same. The slim headlights and the darker pillars also remain unchanged from previous generation, while the radiator grille pattern looks rather unexpected. Inside, we expect large displays and plenty of touch-based controls.
Like the Range Rover Sport before it, the standard Range Rover will most probably be based on the MLA tech platform. It will predominantly ship with hybrid powertrains, including 48V MHEVs and advanced PHEVs.
An all-electric version is likewise not wholly out of the question, but we expect the high-end Range Rover SVR to hold onto an internal combustion engine, possibly a 4.4-liter V8 TT. Other specs may also be available in non-electrified ICE variants.
Finally, the SUV will likely still be offered in two wheelbase versions: standard and LWB. The former will continue to compete with the likes of the BMW X7 and Mercedes-Benz GLS, while the latter will fight for customers with the likes of the Bentley Bentayga.
