Earlier Range Rover off-roaders can be viewed from different angles, but few will be willing to praise their handling and reliability. Most of these classics have rusted away by now, but British tuner Kingsley Re-Engineered wants them back.
The company has announced a restoration and modernization program for most older Range Rovers, including those no longer drivable. Cars will be stripped down to the frames, re-painted and sealed against corrosion – one of the worst issues with the whole series. The engine can be either boosted up to 314 PS (310 hp / 231 kW) or swapped out for a more powerful and reliable GM V8.
Steering and gearbox will also undergo a major overhaul. Kingsley Re-Engineered believes that many people are misled by the appearance of the car that looks like it was made in the 90s, but is actually a design from the 60s that handles every bit like a 60s-era off-roader would. This will have to be addressed in the restomod project as well.
Pricing starts at £50,000.
