Would you buy a 27-year-old, high-mileage, mildly-tuned Range Rover Classic?

Range Rover vehicles have various virtues, but reliability arguably isn’t one of them. Vermont-based restorer Congleton Service put one such SUV up for sale after a drivetrain swap and other maintenance, but buyers haven’t been too enthusiastic about it.

The car on sale at Cars & Bids is a Range Rover Classic 25th Anniversary Edition finished in Aspen Silver Metallic with 16-inch alloy wheels and new LED headlights. At the center of attention is a stylish TWR body kit with new body-matched bumpers at both ends.

The trim spec is high with a two-zone HVAC on board, heated and power-adjustable front seats, a couple of airbags, cruise control and automatic sunroof. Unfortunately, the listing points out that some of the equipment is malfunctioning and may need further attention.

Power is supplied by a new 4.2-liter V8 coming to replace the old 5.0-liter mill. The stock four-speed automatic is also no longer there. The chassis has around 260,000 kilometers (160,000 miles) on it, but the powertrain has only around 10,000 km (6,100 miles).

Bidding has so far reached $14,500 with three days on the auction clock.
