The YouTube team of km77.com has posted the footage from its recent tests of the next-generation Range Rover flagship. Not only did the SUV never come close to the required 77 km/h (47.8 mph), it showed one of the worst results in the entire history of obstacle evasion testing.
It is worth pointing out that the crew tried out the short-wheelbase variant of the SUV, which still comes in over 5 meters (16.4 feet) long. Adding to the complexity of the test was the fact that it was a particularly heavy hybrid modification, which in the case of the new Range Rover happens to be top-heavy despite the battery. Further worsening the situation was the fact that the SUV wore a set of all-season tires to the trial, not the best option if it is traction you are after.
Regardless, the off-roader failed miserably with just one clean moose test run at 63 km/h (39.1 mph). Any higher, and it started hitting traffic cones like bowling pins.
