New Range Rover Evoque family to debut next year without 3-door version

The second generation of Range Rover Evoque, which will celebrate its premiere in 2019, will get rid of the three-door version. Five-door and convertible Evoque variants will still be available.

There is no official confirmation at this point, but observers agree that the three-door version was most likely discontinued due to poor sales.

The new Range Rover Evoque development mule has repeatedly been spotted on the streets by car photographers. If the shots are any indication, the second generation is going to have larger dimensions than the first one, which means extra interior space.

The body design of the upcoming series is going to be partly inspired by the Range Rover Velar lineup, with some details also borrowed from the latest Range Rover / Range Rover Sport.

The vehicle will make use of the updated D8 architecture and come with a choice between front and all-wheel drive. Drivetrain options will include a new hybrid one, combining a 1.5-liter turbocharged gas engine with a minor electric motor and a battery set.

Since the manufacturer has repeatedly stated its intentions to “electrify” its entire vehicle range starting in 2021, an all-electric Range Rover Evoque is also a possibility.
