When Land Rover showcased the overland capabilities of the Range Rover Sport, you could just about believe the SUV could effortlessly traverse any terrain. The latest video casts some doubt on it, though.
Shown here is a new Range Rover Sport trying to ascend a small snowy slope in the road. It fumbles through multiple attempts and eventually gets stuck in the mushy wet show, sliding slowly backwards. Aggravating matters is the fact that the driver did put winter tires on.
Speaking with Motor1.com, tire specialist Jonathan Benson said the model chosen was still poorly suited for the purpose, and that opting for a set of Michelins would have helped climb the street without issue. Another possible concern is the ice that could form under the snow after several periods of melting and freezing: if there is enough crust underneath that snow, no amount of tire technology is going to help.
