Range Rover just announced it was working on a special hi-end modification of the Sport SVR performance SUV. According to Ben Verrecchia, RR’s Head of Engineering, the new vehicle will weigh less, look better and have better dynamics.
He said that buyers would be able to select between two different chassis configurations. The special Range Rover Sport SVR should get a brand-new braking system which will reduce its total weight by 24 kilograms (53 lbs.). A separate version will be made available without the rear seat row, but with a pre-installed roll cage.
The regular Range Rover Sport SVR comes equipped with a 5.0-liter supercharged V8 engine good for 575 hp (430 kW) and 700 Nm (515 lb·ft) of torque. It only needs 4.5 seconds to accelerate from a standstill to 100 km/h (62 mph).
