Video: 600-PS Manhart-tuned Range Rover Velar driven on autobahn

The regular Range Rover Velar does not come across as a particularly sporty crossover SUV, but its top spec – the SVAutobiography – is a different matter, especially with some tuning effort put in.

Powering the stock SVAutobiography is a five-liter supercharged V8 capable of 550 PS (542 hp / 404 kW) and 680 Nm (502 lb-ft) of torque. It needs 4.3 seconds to hit 100 km/h (62 mph) and only reaches its speed ceiling at 280 km/h (174 mph).

Manhart’s tweaked example benefits from an added 50 PS (49 hp / 37 kW) and 70 Nm (51 lb-ft) of torque. A 10% power increase is easy to underestimate, so how does it translate into actual thrust? Watch the video, and you will see that the difference does show quite well: among other things, the upgraded Velar has little trouble reaching as high up as 296 km/h (184 miles per hour).
