Himalaya 4x4 has unveiled its latest project, a Land Rover Series IIA restored and modified into a beach buggy of sorts. The off-roader lost its roof, but gained a modern drivetrain, chassis and audio system in return. The asking price ranges from U.S. $250,000 to $300,000 depending on the chosen spec.
In its simplest version, the car trades its original engine for a naturally aspirated General Motors V6 linked to an automatic gearbox for ~300 horsepower (225 kilowatts). The suspension takes advantage of Fox components for smooth and comfortable off-road driving, and the brakes come from Wilwood. The stamped wheels are still present, but the all-terrain tires are new.
Things stay recognizable inside the cabin with only a few updates. There are a new dashboard, a wooden-rimmed steering wheel and seats wrapped in water-resistant leather. There is also an Alpine premium audio system on board with Bluetooth connectivity and other modern features.
