UK-based car restorer Aubrey Automobiles has finished an impressive and time-consuming restoration of a Land Rover Series III (109). The car is exactly half a century old and had spent most of its life as a farm workhorse, so you can imagine how extensive the project was.
The details aren’t plentiful, but we do know that the engine, the drivetrain, the brakes and the suspension here are absolutely new. There is a tarp top with a six-point roll cage added for safety, a bike rack and a ski holder in the back, but the owner can remove any or all of these add-ons and even drive the SUV as a cabriolet of sorts (check out the gallery, it’s impressive).
Inside, all six leather seats are heated, there is a modern multimedia system plugged into some premium speakers, and a truck bed lined with wenga wood. The way we see it, the bed can be sheltered from bad weather and turned into a nice place for picnic out in the wild of the Swiss Alps (this is where the customer who ordered the car is from).
Georgia Peck, the founder of Aubrey Automobiles, pointed out that the project took eight months and around 1,000 workhours to complete. The vehicle itself is scheduled to make an entrance at a Concours of Elegance in Switzerland the day after tomorrow (Feb. 24, 2023).
