Leapmotor D19 launch date announced

Stellantis-backed Chinese automaker Leapmotor has confirmed that its largest SUV so far will debut on October 16, 2025. It’s provisionally known as the D19 and is rumored to start from 300,000 CNY, but both the name and the pricing may change.

The company has posted a fresh batch of photos showing a camouflaged SUV rocking a LiDAR on the roof and stacked headlights. This is a bit funny because Leapmotor had previously posted camo-free images of the same vehicle – you’ll find them further down the gallery here. As you can see, the overall design isn’t much different from that of the brand’s other, smaller SUVs.

According to CNEVpost, the D19 is over 5 meters (16.4 feet) long and features a range-extender hybrid powertrain with multiple motor configurations to choose from. These are all unofficial reports, though, so we’ll have to wait for the launch to be sure.

Leapmotor CEO Zhu Jiangming said earlier that the production of the company’s largest crossover utility vehicle would begin in the first quarter of 2026. Later on, the SUV would be accompanied on the assembly line by a closely related minivan. All in all, the automaker plans to launch up to 13 new vehicles over the next three years to gain a firmer foothold in the price segment from 60,000 to 300,000 Chinese Yuan (EUR 7,200–36,000; USD 8,435–42,175, respectively).
