Following Bentley’s spirited premiere of the Christmas-themed Flying Spur V8, Lexus Canada unveils its own take on Santa’s ride of choice.
The HX Sleigh is a hybrid show car that the company claims was “co-designed with elves”, complete with a unique exterior and snow tracks instead of wheels. For the vehicle to be able to fly as high as 60,000 feet (18.3 kilometers), it has a painstakingly optimized aerodynamic shape and comes coated in four layers of special infrared paint to make it visible in the dark skies.
Technology-wise, Lexus claims its sleigh packs an aerial autopilot system and ARD (All-Reindeer Drive), as well as a powered tailgate that swings open to reveal an infinite trunk.
The interior only has two seats, but four displays, including a holographical one. Climate Concierge keeps necks warm, while a Mark Levinson Surround Sound System helps create the mood.
Back in the real world, the next Lexus to come will be an electric design study shown in the attached video. It should be revealed in detail in the first quarter of 2021.
