Lexus LQ slated to get a V8, 600 HP

Neither the Lexus LX nor the RX L can truly take the fight to the full-size SUVs that dominate the markets in Europe and the United States. Realizing this, the Japanese automaker will be coming out with a new flagship named the LQ soon; here are some details.

The car utilizes the GA-L platform of the latest LS model and inherits some of its powertrains. This includes the 3.4-liter V6 turbo rated at 422 PS (416 hp / 310 kW) and a part-electric V6 system good for 359 PS (354 hp / 264 kW). An all-new engine joins them in the form of a four-liter, twin-turbo, eight-cylinder unit capable of around 600 PS (592 hp / 441 kW).

Stylistically, the hardcore SUV draws inspiration from the LF-1 Limitless Concept featured in our gallery and the video here. However, while the prototype had four seats, the LQ is envisioned as a seven-seater.
