Reusing the three most popular materials (leather, plastic and carbon fiber) for cabin trims over and over can be boring, don’t you agree? This is why Japanese luxury carmaker Lexus decided to look for inspiration elsewhere.
As you may have heard, the company has recently introduced the LF-Z Electrified Concept. As it turns out now, it invited famous footwear designer Salehe Bembury, digital artist Ondrej Zunka and Japanese fashion label Hender Scheme to come up with exciting and immersive new interiors.
Bembury’s take on the futuristic ride combines organic materials and extremely vivid colors, bringing together cedar, corkwood and natural granite.
Ondrej Zunka’s vision is just as eye-poppingly colorful and ventures into the speculative realm. According to the artist’s recent Instagram post, he envisioned the seats as being made of a smart silicon material capable of enveloping the passenger’s body to ensure an ideal seat profile.
For its own part, Hender Scheme only used one real-world material: leather, which it left intentionally untreated. According to the statement released by the fashion house, leaving natural leather exposed like this will eventually lead to the formation of patina and a rich, noble, weathered color hue unique to each particular car.
