Lexus shares pics of its first EV SUV

Lexus has published a sales report for 2021 and appended some photos of its upcoming battery SUV, the RZ 450e, to it. Read on to find out what it has in common with the technically related Toyota bZ4X and Subaru Solterra, and what the marque plans to do next.

We have already seen the front fascia shots before, complete with new L-shaped headlight patterns and an intricate front fascia mimicking the classical Lexus grille. The body outlines are nearly identical to the bZ4X and Solterra models mentioned above, with only the c-pillars looking sharply different.

The taillights are also new: both the Toyota and the Subaru have boomerang-shaped brake signals, while the Lexus has a light strip spanning its entire rear end and even stretching farther to the fenders. The bumper looks more aggressive than what the competition has. Interior photos are still pending.

The all-electric Lexus RZ will hit showroom floors this spring. By the beginning of 2030, the company expects to have sold 1 million EVs and gotten rid of its ICE inventory in Western Europe, North America and China. Other countries will have to wait until 2035 for full electrification.
