The new Lexus LBX is based on an upgraded version of the Toyota Yaris Cross platform and will become available before the end of the year.
The details are still scarce. It is official that the crossover SUV is rather small at 4,190 mm (163.7 in) long, 1,825 mm (71.3 in) wide and 1,560 mm (61 in) tall with 2,580 mm (100.8 in) between the axles. It sports a bezel-free radiator grille, new headlights, bulky bumpers and generally looks different from the Yaris Cross.
The interior is also completely new, including the dashboard, the steering wheel and the central console with a 12.3-inch display on it.
Lexus also says the LBX will be available with a couple of mild hybrid (MHEV) powertrains to choose from and no other options. There are no details, but rumors claim that they will all be based on the same 1.5-liter turbo three-cylinder engine. One of the versions will allegedly offer 140 PS (138 hp / 103 kW) and 185 Nm (136 lb-ft) of torque.
