Lexus to get rid of the ‘affordable’ GS 300

The GS 300 is the smallest member of the Lexus GS sedan/saloon family – but it looks like the Japanese premium carmaker wants to disown the poor guy.

The reason is trivial: the market demand proved less impressive than expected. Soon, only two models will remain in the GS range: the GS 350 and the ‘fully loaded’ GS F (see video).

Naturally, this means that becoming a Lexus owner becomes harder with prices rising across the board. Whereas the GS 300 can currently be obtained for $47,885 in the USA, the GS 350 begins at $52,420.

Rumors also circulate that Lexus eventually intends to discontinue the GS line, which has been around since 2011, altogether. If it also ditches the IS compact, then it may once again become an SUV specialist.
