Lexus is attending the now-open SEMA show in Las Vegas with its latest GX and LX models modded for traveling and active leisure. The company highlights that all the customers need to do is opt in to the program called Associated Accessory Product (AAP) – no homemade tuning required.
The program envisions the release of a wide range of third-party aftermarket components for mass-produced Lexus cars. Starting with the new GX, it can be optioned with custom 18-inch wheels, a skid plate underneath and tube-frame side sills. The roof houses an expedition rack, which in turn contains boxes and sand tracks. In turn, the quarter panels provide ample space for a shovel and a couple of fuel cans.
The old-generation GX is also present at the show. It is finished in a vivid shade of orange and has an expedition rack, as well as a 3-meter (9.8-ft.) large hammock. The trunk houses a fridge with a spacious 63-liter (16.6-gallon) freezer compartment and a tire inflator.
The biggest highlight of the booth is an LX 600 finished in aquamarine with matte grey accents. It carries a folding canopy on the roof and has a whole kitchen suspended on a special rack at the rear end. There is a gas stove, a kitchen sink and a dish drawer on board. Extra mounting points on the roof let you carry various sports equipment, such as surfboards.
All vehicles ride on the same 34-inch Toyo Open Country tires for muddy terrain.
