The hardcore Lexus GX off-roader that hit the podium at the recently concluded Tokyo Auto Salon was co-designed with Jaos to highlight the adventurer-friendly status of the marque and its terrain readiness.
The company based its unique build on the standard Overtail trim, giving it a different front bumper made from ultra-durable plastic with LED inserts and fender flares. The SUV also ended up with tube-frame side sills, 4mm aluminum skid plates, and metalized mudguards.
The suspension received new springs and Kayaba shock absorbers. New 18-inch Jaos wheels slotted into the arches with Toyo Open Country A/T tires, and an expedition rack appeared on the roof. The tuner did point out an increased ground clearance, but neglected to mention any numbers.
Underpinning the build is a normal Lexus GX 550 powered by a 3.4-liter V6 engine turbocharged deliver to 354 PS (349 hp / 260 kW) and 650 Nm (479 lb-ft) of torque. A ten-speed automatic transmission carries the torque to all four wheels through a reduction gear and an inter-axle diff lock.
Opting for the Overtrail trim package gives you a rear-axle differential, active sway bars and a suite of off-road electronic assists. The package is only obtainable in the latest GX generation.
