Lexus has proudly presented a teaser video dedicated to the next generation of its IS sedan. Despite the “brand new” claims, the car looks little different from its previous version that emerged seven years ago.
The body frame and the RWD configuration stay unchanged, and the doors, while reshaped, still more or less preserve their original proportions. Depicted on the teaser pics is the F Sport spec, which additionally boasts an aerodynamic kit. The non-F Sport version will look tamer than this.
The cabin also causes an inrush of nostalgia. The layout is essentially the same, and the steering wheel and HVAC controls are exactly the way they were before. The one new bit is the multimedia display, which is no longer integrated into the dashboard. A touchpad replaces the gear joystick on the center tunnel, and the air deflectors at the sides are now round.
Although it’s not official, the new Lexus IS will probably ship with its old 2.0 four-cylinder turbo, a 3.5-liter non-turbo V6, and hybrid powertrain.
