The Lexus IS Wax Edition exists in a single copy worldwide so far and can play back vinyl records thanks to a player built into its glove compartment.
Making a delicate piece of equipment like this function inside of a car is actually a greater challenge than you might think. The player has to remain perfectly motionless on bumps, during turns, acceleration and braking, and keep its needle in the groove at all times.
This specific player was designed by SCPS on a silicon pad capable of absorbing most impacts, and was fitted with a microadjustable tonearm along with a special high-precision motor to prevent the needle from jumping around during driving.
The music is being played back through a dedicated 3D audio speaker.
