Lexus hasn’t said anything about developing another IS generation, but BestCarWeb claims citing its own sources that it is underway to the market in 2025. According to the insiders, the next-gen Lexus IS is a purely electric vehicle coming in multiple body styles.
The manufacturer will allegedly use the e-TNGA platform for the car that the Lexus RZ and the Toyota bZ4X are based upon, among others. Electric motors installed on both axles will give it all-wheel drive functionality and advanced torque vectoring, as well as some other advantages.
The sources suppose that the new IS may also get a two-speed reduction gear, like the Porsche Taycan. Last but not least, it may debut with a Shooting Brake (close to wagon) body style, aside from sedan.
The design studies that Lexus unveiled in early 2022 (shown in the gallery and the video here) support these rumors. Aside from revealing concepts of an all-electric sports car and a battery SUV, the automaker showed a sedan, a sporty-looking five-door estate car and a two-door cabriolet. Nothing was said about their production prospects.
