Could Lexus be getting a new F Sport ready to rumble?

Shortly after announcing three performance-oriented F models, the Japanese premium carmaker has released a teaser pic showing one of those.

The image depicts an engine lid with an F Sport logo on it. The current Lexus lineup already has other such entries, the IS 350 sedan featured in our gallery here being one example. Compared to its non-F counterpart, the car boasts special décor elements, tires and seats. Having said that, it lacks the F Sport badge under the hood.

So, what model could it be? The same designation can be found on the engine lid of the Lexus 2UR-GSE V8, which produces 481 PS (474 hp / 354 kW) and 535 Nm (395 lb-ft) of torque. However, that engine model is currently reserved for the range-topping IS F model due out in November 2021.

Lexus registered a new trademark named “IS 500” last year, so perhaps this is it. The alleged compact sedan should prove more powerful than the current IS 350, which packs a 3.5-liter naturally aspirated V6 with 315 PS (311 hp / 232 kW) and 380 Nm (280 lb-ft) of torque. In all likelihood, it will ship with a turbocharged variant of the V6 that the current LS 500 spec uses to get 422 PS (416 hp / 310 kW) and 600 Nm (443 lb-ft).
