The Japanese carmaker is apparently developing a brand-new, V-shaped, eight-cylinder engine with dual turbochargers that it will be installing on all performance-oriented and high-end models starting in 2020.
The conclusion indirectly follows from the statement made by Gazoo Racing Team, which has just confirmed its participation in the next 24 Hours of Nürburgring.
The team chose an updated version of its Lexus LC (shown on the photos and the video here) for the season, claiming that the car now packs a completely new twin-turbo’d V8 later meant to be used in production cars as well.
Rumor has it the new mill will offer four liters of displacement and will eventually phase out the old 5.0-liter non-turbo engine with its 477 hp (356 kW) completely.
