Lexus to reveal LFA-based art car this weekend

Japanese car maker Lexus has a few important events ahead. For one, its racing team will soon enter the 24 Hours Spa Francorchamps race for the first time in history. For another one, the Lexus F family soon celebrates its tenth birthday.

The third important event is a direct consequence of the first two. The company will attend the Spa Francorchamps Circuit in Belgium this weekend with a now forgotten LFA supercar wearing an art piece.

The LFA supercar series has been produced from 2010 until 2012 and cost U.S. $375,000 and above. The Nürburgring Special Edition, for example, cost U.S. $445,000.

Portuguese artist Pedro Enrique has conceptualized a unique ornament for the anniversary vehicle, allegedly reminiscent “of life’s brevity, of a world where things change their shape too fast”. The artist strived to convey how a sport car silhouette evolves into pure movement.

Back in its time, the LFA came equipped with a 4.8-liter, 10-cylinder engine rated at 560 hp (418 kW). The anniversary car got a stronger engine with 600 hp (447 kW).

Lexus might actually launch small-batch production of the revived LFA series someday in the future – after all, this is what many of its authorized dealerships have repeatedly asked for.
