After the recent announcement of the next-generation Lexus ES, many reporters (us included) had speculated that it might permanently replace the LS model as a new global market flagship. Well, this is now officially not the case.
Lexus released a message clarifying that the LS (see the gallery and the video here) is a staple of its executive vehicle lineup, and it won’t be going anywhere in the next few years.
By describing the new ES as a “global flagship”, the company apparently meant “the most important and popular vehicle” in its current portfolio, not “LS replacement”.
