Lexus USA: We need at least one new large SUV and a major refresh

Lexus has fallen behind its German competitors in the SUV market segment recently, yielding sales to Audi, BMW and Mercedes-Benz. A solution may be coming up soon, though.

According to Paul LaRochelle, General Manager of Lexus of Annapolis dealership in the USA, the company is going to launch a few new cars and overhaul the current lineup in the next few years. Among other things, at least one full-size SUV should enter the market soon enough, packing seven or perhaps eight seats.

There’s little denying the fact that SUVs and crossovers of the Japanese luxury brand are overdue a major update. The LX series debuted all the way back in 2007, and the GX followed in 2009. The NX and RX are more up-to-date than the former two, but they will also be given a facelift.

The Lexus UX mini-SUV emerged in 2018 and went electric in November last year (see the video). That said, the UX EV is limited to Europe, Japan and China markets.

By the way, as some of you may remember, the Lexus LX shares the principal tech with the Toyota Land Cruiser 300. If the former gets updated any time soon, the latter will likely follow.
