The recently introduced next-gen Lexus LX traded its naturally aspirated V8 for a smaller V6 turbo churning out more horsepower than its predecessor. EKanoo Racing decided to measure its real power at the wheels.
In theory, the LX 600 V6 comes equipped with the same engine as the LS 500 sedan. However, its actual manufacturer-rated power is slightly lower at 415 PS (409 hp / 305 kW) compared to the sedan’s 421 PS (415 hp / 310 kW). On the upside, the full-size SUV generates 650 Nm (479 lb-ft) of torque over the 600 Nm (443 lb-ft) of the LS.
Dyno tests have shown that the new LX makes 367 PS (362 hp / 270 kW) at the wheels, around 8 hp (5 kW) less than the new Land Cruiser. EKanoo says it expected the two SUVs to be on par, but the Lexus turned out slightly weaker. The difference is most likely due to its heavier 22-inch alloy wheels as opposed to 20-inch rollers the Cruiser runs on.
