Lexus has patented the model designation ‘LX700h’, something that is not a thing in the current LX lineup. CarBuzz believes it could be a range-topping hybrid SUV powered by a modified i-Force Max powertrain from the Toyota Tundra.
The current flagship is called the LX600 and utilizes a 3.5-liter turbocharged V6 to drive the wheels with 415 PS (409 hp / 305 kW) and 650 Nm (479 lb-ft) of torque. You can find in the gallery and the video here.
In turn, Toyota’s i-Force Max system combines a six-cylinder engine with an electric motor. Together, they produce 443 PS (437 hp / 326 kW) and 790 Nm (583 lb-ft) of torque. The issue is that Lexus would hardly register a whole new name for a car only marginally more powerful than its existing model.
CarBuzz believes that the LX700h could get an additional electric motor to maximize output. It could also turn into a PHEV with several dozen kilometers of battery range – that is, if it ever reaches the market. Even if the patent comes through, we have no way of knowing when Lexus may choose to start production.
