2nd-gen Lexus NX available to pre-order in Japan

Customers in Japan can already make deposits for the AZ20-gen Lexus NX, but prices will probably remain unannounced until the offline sales launch this fall.

The NX250 spec now uses a 2.5-liter non-turbo rated at 203 PS (200 hp / 149 kW), while the NX350 uses a 2.4-liter turbo and makes 275 PS (271 hp / 202 kW). The transmission is eight-speed automatic in both cases, and the drive can be on the front axle or both.

The NX350h is a parallel hybrid based on a 2.5-liter petrol engine and two electric motors mounted one per axle. The total output amounts to 239 PS (236 hp / 176 kW).

Rounding off the lineup is NX450h+, a plug-in hybrid based on the same powertrain as the Toyota RAV4 PHEV. Specifically, there is a 2.5-liter engine with 178 PS (176 hp / 131 kW), a single electric motor, a lithium-ion battery, and a step-up converter. The car hits the asphalt with 306 PS (302 hp / 225 kW) and offers up to 58 km (36 miles) of range. A 3.3kW charger can be used to replenish 100% of the charge within four and a half hours, but buyers can opt for a Level 2 charger and reduce the waiting time to just two and a half hours. Both hybrids are all-wheel-drive cars by design.

Speaking of design, customers can choose from 11 exterior and 7 interior finishes. The NX350 and NX450+ come with an optional F Sport package adding 20-inch wheels and adaptive shocks.
