Lexus RX PHEV announced in the USA

The fifth generation of the Lexus RX debuted in May 2022. Back then, the Japanese automaker revealed the details about three powertrain options, leaving out the fourth one. It is official now that the final option is a plug-in hybrid rated just below the flagship of the RX family.

Called 450h+, the new powertrain comes from the NX lineup and is based on the same 2.5-liter inline-four turbo. It also comprises two electric motors and a lithium-ion battery. The combined system output of 309 PS (305 hp / 227 kW) lets the car reach 60 miles per hour (97 km/h) in 6.2 seconds and max out at 124 mph (200 km/h). The all-electric range amounts to 56 km, or roughly 35 miles. Charging the RX 450h+ from a 6.6kW wall charger takes about two and a half hours.

In its standard form, the car offers four seats with power adjustments, heating and ventilation, an ambient lighting system, a heated steering wheel, a panoramic glass roof and a Mark Levinson premium audio system composed of 21 speakers.

Sales in the USA are scheduled for the end of the year, with the base price at $70,080.
