Lexus sends its first electric RZ off-roading

Lexus has come to this year’s Shanghai Auto Show with an overlanding version of its all-electric RZ 450e SUV. Dubbed the RZ Outdoor Concept, the one-off prototype is meant to show us how far the premium Japanese automaker is willing to go to satisfy the demands of customers.

Before we begin: there has been no word on when or, indeed, whether any of these accessories and options may become available.

The RZ Outdoor combines a glossy sand color with matte black in its color scheme. It sports a special front bumper and large anti-fog lights, a trailer hook at the rear and, a bike rack and auxiliary lights on the roof. The underbody is coated with scratch-resistant paint all around, and there are skid plates, too. 18-inch wheels come wrapped in BFGoodrich off-road tires.

The powertrain is stock, which in this particular case means two e-motors and 313 PS (309 hp / 230 kW). The driving range maxes out at 450 km (280 miles).
