Lincoln teases its new luxury SUV, the Corsair

Car manufacturer Lincoln has released the first teaser image depicting its new crossover/SUV model called the Corsair. The car will celebrate its reveal at the New York International Motor Show starting in April 2019 and will eventually replace the Lincoln MKC SUV that the company has been producing since 2014.

The new Lincoln Corsair gets most of its major design features from the Aviator, including the telltale slanting roof, the massive bulk of the radiator grille shaped like a shield, and the rear lights connected with a LED stripe.

The car comes based on the same front-wheel-drive platform as the latest Ford Focus.

Initially, the series will ship with a choice between two EcoBoost Turbo V4 engines (2.0L @ 245 hp / 183 kW and 2.3L @ 289 hp / 216 kW). Both will work in conjunction with an eight-speed automatic transmission. A hybrid version will emerge at a later date.

Ford will assemble the luxury SUV using its factories in the USA and China. Once the model arrives on the market, it will face its primary competition from the Volvo XC60, Cadillac XT4, Acura RDX, and Lexus NX.
