Lincoln previews an electric SUV concept

Ford signed an agreement with Rivian back in 2019 to design all-electric Lincoln cars together, but the pandemic broke those plans, leaving Ford to pursue them alone. Now, the company has finally completed its first prototype, the Lincoln Star Concept.

While little more than a design study at this point, the vehicle will both preview the electric future of the Lincoln brand and distill into a production SUV of some kind. The company claims it comes based on a promising EV architecture that supports AWD and RWD configurations.

Features on the list include SAE Level 4 self-driving, which means you will be able to fold down and tuck away the steering wheel and turn the front seats around to face the rear row. There is also a giant front panel display the likes of which Lincoln installs on the latest Zephyr.

The U.S. automaker intends to launch three EVs in the coming three years.
