Lincoln L100 crashes Pebble Beach party rocking a futuristic suit

Lincoln’s L100 is a design study that the company hopes to use as a bridge between its oldest legacy and its near future. Does it strike you as familiar?

The automaker, whose lineup is currently being exhibited at the Pebble Beach event, claims the design team drew inspiration from the Lincoln L old-timer that debuted in 1922. We did a quick investigation and frankly couldn’t spot any kind of parallels besides two seat rows and a longer-than-usual wheelbase.

Which is not to say the L100 is odd. It has an aerodynamically curved body and a cabin missing the wheel, the pedals and the gear selector (full self-driving, baby). Rather than coming with a predefined interior layout, it offers passengers the opportunity to customize the layout however they see fit. The front seats swivel by 180 degrees, the floor doubles as a giant infotainment display, and the center console turns into a chessboard at a push of a button.

No technical parameters were revealed during the presentation, and probably never will be, since the L100 is a pure design study.
