Ex-Presidential Lincoln fetches $172k at auction

A 1964 Lincoln Continental with 25,700 km (16,000 miles) on the odo found a buyer willing to part with $172,000 for it – not because of the rarity or condition, but because the car once belonged to U.S. President Lyndon B. Johnson.

The white four-door convertible comes equipped with a power-assisted droptop and features a grey-and-beige cabin. The equipment list mentions hydraulic power steering, AC, radio and power windows. A 7.-liter V8 under the hood drives the wheels through a three-speed A/T with 320 PS (316 hp / 235 kW) and 630 Nm (465 lb-ft) of torque.

The seller stats that the car underwent major repairs in the early 2000s. Its most recent owner had it for six years and almost never used it, having put just 50 miles (80 km) on the counter. The seller received all the papers confirming the identity of the previous owner with their purchase.
