Rumor: Lincoln e-SUV to be named ‘Mark E’

It is official that Lincoln is getting two all-electric crossover SUVs ready to rumble, so far only known under their factory designations CDX746 and CDX747. The launch is still a few years away, but rumors make it through.

According to multiple recent reports, the American marque’s first electric SUV will be named the Mark E, and will match the Nautilus model in terms of body dimensions. Ford Cuautitlan in Mexico will allegedly handle the production along with another, still unannounced EV by Ford, which controls the Lincoln brand.

Some time ago, Lincoln decided to utilize the skateboard platform and the powertrain developed by startup firm Rivian for its future EVs. It later changed its mind without providing an explanation or naming a substitute. In view of this, it seems likely that the company will adopt the power and tech of the Ford Mustang Mach-E going forward. It remains speculative whether there will be a power boost.

Having said that, it is also possible that Lincoln EVs will run on their own, proprietary power and batteries. The driving range should lie in the general vicinity of 400-500 miles (483-563 kilometers).

As for the exterior and cabin styling, the company may refer to its Zephyr Reflection sedan prototype revealed at the Auto Shanghai show this spring (see video). Once it reaches the market, Audi e-tron, Cadillac Lyriq and Tesla Model X will be its main competitors.
