Livan 7 EV CUV now available in China in 6 trims priced from $16k equiv.

Chinese car brand Livian (co-founded between Geely and Lifan) has begun selling its electric coupe-like CUV named simply the 7 in China. Buyers have six trim levels to choose from and can expect to pay from 117,700 to 173,700 Yuan (roughly $16,000–24,000).

Unlike the marque’s other models, which are simply rebadged Geely vehicles, the newcomer utilizes a proprietary architecture named GBRC Crystal. It is 4,690 mm long, 1,892 mm wide and 1,650 mm tall with 2,775 mm between the axles and a low drag ratio of 0.238. A smooth body shape with flush door handles and a roof spoiler contribute to power economy.

The drive is on the rear axle in all specs, but at least you can choose between two electric motors. One makes 163 PS (161 hp / 120 kW) and 240 Nm (177 lb-ft) of torque and the other produces 245 PS (242 hp / 180 kW), as well as 385 Nm (284 lb-ft). The faster version needs 2.8 seconds to go 0-50 km/h (0-31 mph).

For batteries, you can get a medium-sized 50.4-kWh pack and get 450 km (280 miles) per charge or opt for a larger 68.03-kWh pack and get 605 km (375 miles). Both ranges are CLTS-rated. Charging at a sufficiently powerful DC charger will let you top up from 30% to 80% in 30 minutes. You can also visit a dedicated battery swap station for a quicker full-pack replacement.

The driver’s interface consists of a 9.2-inch digital dashboard, a 15.6-inch multimedia display and a heads-up display. The console houses a wireless charging pad for phones.

An assist package is available that includes a LiDAR, marking the first time this expensive piece of equipment is installed on a sub-200,000-Yuan vehicle. Once activated, it provides L2+ self-driving capabilities. The infotainment system is powered by Geely’s Dragon Eagle 1 CPU identical to the one used in the Lynk & Co 08. Even the most basic trim level includes LED lighting all around, 17-inch wheels, HVAC, a reversing camera and a power tailgate.
