Li Mega pics released, late 2023 launch confirmed

Chinese automaker Li Auto plans to begin the deliveries of its Mega minivan before the end of the current year, CarNewsChina reports. The photos of the startup company’s first MPV and all-electric vehicle have just been posted on social media by its CEO, Xiang Li.

Unlike most competing models, the Mega sports a futuristic exterior and evokes associations with the Hyundai Staria. It has dynamic body outlines with an enormous windshield, stylized c-pillars and a nearly upright front end with boxy headlight units and a LED stripe in between.

The wheels are aerodynamically shaped, and the door handles are concealed. As a result, the model may end up being China’s lowest-drag van on the market. That said, the details have yet to be revealed.

As a single-space minivan, the Mega is around 5.3 meters (17.4 feet) long and runs on a architecture called Whale, which supports rapid charging. A 500kW charging source can replenish enough power for 600 km (373 miles) of range in mere 22 minutes.

The official launch event is scheduled for December this year. Reservations will become available in the same month. The expected starting price is 500,000 Yuan (slightly more than 68,000 USD).
