Li Auto has begun selling its Mega passenger minivan in China. Coming in at 5.35 meters (17.55 feet) long with 3.3 meters (10.83 feet) of wheelbase, the futuristic people hauler seats seven people and has the lowest drag ratio in the class. Prices start from 559,800 CNY (77,760 USD).
The interior has three seat rows. The version on sale right now has two individual seats in the middle row and a bench for three in the back. All individual seats come with built-in massagers. The middle row occupants get a 17-inch display all to themselves, and the dashboard accommodates a pair of 15.7-inch screens. The van does away with the traditional gauge cluster, replacing it with a tiny display built into the steering wheel hub.
The base spec also includes two wireless phone chargers, a fridge and a 21-channel audio system. The semi-autonomous driving system on board uses a LiDAR, 11 cameras and 12 radars to find its way around.
In China, the Li Auto Mega will ship exclusively with a dual-motor powertrain rated at 544 PS (536 hp / 400 kW). The manufacturer promises 0-100 km/h (62 mph) in 5.5 seconds and a speed limiter at 180 km/h (112 mph). The battery comes from CATL and stores 102.7 kWh of power, which translates into 700 km (435 miles) of CLTC-rated range or 575 km (357 miles) according to the European WLTP standard. You can charge it up from 10 to 80 percent full in mere 10 minutes.
Li Auto also mentions per-wheel suspension featuring adaptive shock absorbers and dual-chamber air springs. Thanks to this high-end setup, you can adjust the ground clearance within the range of 70 mm (2.73 inches).
Once it hits the showroom floors in China, the Mega will face most of its competition from the Hongqi HQ9, Voyah Dream, and Zeekr 009.
