The Chinese car brand’s next vehicle will be a family van running on battery power, as evidenced by this image posted by Li Auto Chief Designer Ben Baum. Car News China speculates that the model may end up called “M8”.
Looking like a downsized version of the Li Mega minivan that debuted early this spring (see video), the newcomer may have its sights set on the Tesla Model X. Having said that, there are still no technical specifications to discuss.
According to Car News China, Li Auto postponed the launch of its M lineup for 2025 saying it needed more time to develop ultrafast charging. The Li Mega is already impressively fast in this regard, only taking 10 minutes and 36 seconds to go from 10 to 80 percent full. That said, fast charging is only possible when there is adequate infrastructure around, and Li Auto apparently wants to focus on developing its own charger network in China.
