Lotus reveals teaser, premiere date of its all-electric Type 130 hypercar

British car manufacturer Lotus has released a new teaser image along with a premiere date of its upcoming fully electric hypercar called the Type 130. The vehicle will celebrate its first live appearance at a private party on July 16, 2019.

The Type 130 is Lotus’ first mass-produced car model in 10 years.

The name of the vehicle pays homage to the naming convention the British company used for some of its iconic releases, such as the famous Type 111 Elise or the now 62-year-old Type 14 Elite. The number 130 here corresponds to the planned total production quantity.

Major features of the upcoming hypercar include an active aerodynamic system, see-through bodywork, and side cameras instead of the conventional mirrors. The powertrain has been designed by Williams Advanced Engineering. Rumors say it is rated close to 1,000 horsepower (745 kilowatts), and the driving range is greater than 400 kilometers (250 miles).

All Lotus Type 130 will be assembled manually in Norfolk, England, with first shipments expected no sooner than 2020.
