Lotus registers ‘Evija’ hypercar name

British car manufacturer Lotus has successfully applied for registration of the ‘Evija’ trademark. Many believe this is what the company’s new all-electric hypercar, so far known only as the Type 130, will be called.

Lotus hasn’t released a single new car model in a decade, so this is going to be a comeback of sorts.

The company is still guarding the technical specs of the hypercar from the wide public, even though its premiere is scheduled for next month. All we know on official terms is that the vehicle boasts a carbon monocoque construction and an active aerodynamic kit. The quantity of electric motors in the powertrain remains undisclosed, but Lotus does mention that their total output exceeds 1,000 horsepower (745 kilowatts). As for the traction battery, it will occupy a place at the rear end, behind the cabin.

In a move clearly meant to make us count days and hours before the reveal event, Lotus CEO Phil Popham said the hypercar would be ‘mind-blowing’.
