Porsche
Macan will soon have a serious competitor. The company Lotus announced the
launch of work on a new crossover, which will be the first in the history of
the automaker. As the head of the concern Jean-Marc Gale said, the production
of these machines can be arranged in China, however, all sports cars the firm
will still collect in the UK.
While no
official information on the novelty did not appear, but, according to auto
experts, the premium SUV will be compact, the material for the body will be
aluminum, and the power unit Toyota will be placed under the hood.
Recall that
now the manufacturer of sports cars is under the control of a company from
China, Zhejiang Geely Holding Group, which previously acquired under the
patronage of the Swedish brand Volvo. A company from China bought a 51 percent
stake in Lotus on the stock exchange. 49% belong to the group Etika
Automotive.
According
to the analysts of the car market, the Chinese company will become a lifeblood
for Lotus, thus bringing additional financing. After all, it was the lack of
funds that accounted for the fact that over the past few years only the special
versions of Elise, Exige and Evora.
