The Lotus company plans to develop the first crossover which will press of his main competitor in the market , the German car maker of Porsche with its Macan model. The car will become the result of team work of the British car maker and the Chinese company Goldstar Heavy Industrial.
The management of Lotus hopes that expansion of a model range will help to increase sales of a brand in 2-3 times to 8-12 thousand cars a year. The British and Chinese engineers already works at the development of the new crossover, whose debut is expected only in 2022, and all existing models of sports cars will be updated before. Thus, the output of the new Lotus Elise, Lotus Exige and coupe Lotus Evora will be held at the beginning of the next decade.
When designing the new crossover British plan to rely on ease and compactness of the car. The amount of turbo engines, most likely, will be in the range from 1,6 to 3,5 liters. The crossover should share the market not only with Porsche Macan, but also and with Jaguar F-Pace, Maserati Levante and Lamborghini Urus preparing for release.
