Lotus has held a virtual conference to reveal the name of its latest sports car previously known as the Type 131. The Emira coupe will hit the spotlight in Hethel on July 6, 2021.
According to the company, the name means ‘leader’ or ‘commander’. It will be the last Lotus production car with a non-electrified powertrain. Its design harkens back to the Evija EV, and the platform used is called Elemental.
In related news, the English automaker plans to sell four of its platforms to third parties. These include the abovementioned Elemental, the hypercar-focused Extreme, the luxurious Evolution, and the track-focused E-Sports.
