Elise Artioli, the granddaughter of Romano Artioli, former owner of the car company, just received the last assembled example of the Elise Sport 240 Final Edition (see video).
The Italian entrepreneur, who also owned the Bugatti brand at the time, bought Lotus from General Motors in 1993. He then named the iconic sports car Elise after his granddaughter, who was 2 years old at the time.
It is actually the second vehicle Elise was presented with: her first ride is a first-gen Elise coupe made in 1997. She often posts photos of herself with that and other Lotus cars on her Instagram page, @iamlotuselise. Among other things, she also organizes rallies in Europe from time to time.
The second-gen Elise came into production in 1995. A total of 35,124 units has been made. The Sport 240 Final Edition pictured here was put together last December. It is an example finished in Championship Gold and equipped with a 1.8-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine rated at 240 PS (237 hp / 176 kW). It is therefore twice as powerful as the first generation. At 922 kilograms (2,033 pounds), though, it is also 165 kilos (363 lbs) heavier.
