Lotus’ pioneering SUV bows with 600 PS, 600 km of range

Meet the Lotus Elise, the first production crossover from the British sports car maker. While availability dates and pricing details remain to be announced, let us look at the technical specifications.

The car has a specially designed front grille with active louvers, a pair of spoilers, 23-inch wheels, a panoramic roof, and carbon-ceramic brakes with 10-piston calipers. The interior makes intensive use of carbon fiber, aluminum, and synthetic fiber.

A look at the steering wheel reveals a very modest-sized dash display behind it. It is the heads-up display that shows the most important information. A 15.1-inch infotainment system screen sits in the middle, and the front passenger gets a personal LCD, too.

Not much is known about the tech at this moment. It is official that the Lotus Elise uses two electric motors together rated at 600 PS (592 hp / 441 kW) and a battery pack sized larger than 100 kWh. This lets it sprint 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in under three seconds and max out at 260 km/h (161 mph). WLTP-rated driving range amounts to 600 kilometers, or 373 miles.
