Lotus Emeya hits the spotlight in UK

Lotus has unveiled its new flagship vehicle, an all-electric sedan called Emeya. Formerly known as ‘Type 133’, it will challenge the likes of Tesla Model S and Porsche Taycan Turbo when it hits the showrooms.

The new Lotus features the same active radiator grille design as the Eletre SUV before it, which lowers drag and provides cooling for the battery pack and the brakes. With the louvers shut, it reduces drag and extends the driving range. A sporty-looking diffuser and active spoilers also contribute to the drag reduction.

The interior makes active use of eco-friendly materials and has a KEF 3D audio system installed with active noise canceling. The driver gets a 55-inch heads-up display with Augmented Reality support.

Other than that, the Emeya runs on the same tech and platform as the Eletre. As such, we expect it to have around 600 km (372 miles) of WLTP-rated range.

With 918 PS (905 hp / 675 kW) and 984 Nm (726 lb-ft) of torque under its command, the saloon snaps off the start line and reaches 100 km/h (62 mph) in 2.8 seconds. It maxes out at 255 km/h (158 mph).

Lotus promises to reveal more details in the fourth quarter of 2023. The production is scheduled for the next year.
