Lotus delves into the details of its Emira First Edition

Lotus never revealed any technical bits about the Emira V4 when it unveiled the supercar at the last year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed, but the silence is broken at long last.

Apparently, the Lotus Emira comes powered by a Mercedes-AMG four-cylinder turbo engine rated at 364 PS (359 hp / 268 kW) and 420 Nm (310 lb-ft) of torque. This is considerably below the output of the same block in Mercedes cars.

While there is no way for us to know the details reliably, it appears Lotus could deliberately tune down the engine so as not to cannibalize the sales of the Emira First Edition V6. That version was announced earlier with a Toyota block, 3.5 liters of displacement, turbochargers, 405 PS (400 hp / 298 kW), and 420 Nm (310 lb-ft) of torque. An eight-speed DCT drives the rear wheels.

The new First Edition V4 will go on sale next spring with 20-inch ultralight forged rims finished in two colors, along with Lotus brake calipers available in red, black, yellow and silver. The V6 version will be the first to arrive in January 2023. Prices start from $85,900.
